As Comal ISD returns to on-campus instruction tomorrow, we all will need to work together to make sure our staff, students and visitors stay safe and healthy. Part of this process requires every person who enters a campus to complete the COVID-19 health screener each day. This screener asks students, or parents of students, to answer two simple questions:
- Are you experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms?; and
- Have you been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
Each day, click here to access and complete the health screener. Bookmark this site for daily access. The health screener also can be found in the quick links area on Comal ISD’s homepage. The first time you use the screener, you or your student will need to add their first and last name and student ID number. Select the Remember Me box to maintain your information.
You will receive a message from your child’s campus later today with information that will help you complete the screener. Also, watch this video.
The health screener will play a significant role in the district’s case management process. This process includes two important elements:
- Identifying possible cases through screener submissions, and
- Students and staff self-reporting during the day if they are not feeling well.
Each campus has identified a campus case manager who will work closely with the school nurse to determine if an individual should be sent home for COVID-related symptoms. We will err on the side of caution as we evaluate, with the goal of protecting our staff and students and minimizing exposure on campus.
