A ninth-grade student from Hill Country College Preparatory High School represented the Comal Independent School District as a KENS 5 All-Star Student Tuesday.
Jakson Kimball, 14, was nominated by Principal Julie Wiley and the staff at HCCPHS because of his willingness to always help both in the classroom and in the community.
“Jakson is always looking for an opportunity to support others,” Wiley said. “We have blended learning this year with remote students and in-person students, and he makes sure that the remote and in-person students connect with each other. He is a really humble guy who hates this attention, but this is my 17th year in education, and he is definitely worthy.”
The oldest of five siblings, Jakson enjoys being a big brother, delivering food to neighbors, problem solving, volunteering in the community, playing his guitar and archery.
As a member of the first class of HCCPHS, the newest school of choice in Comal ISD, Jakson is using his natural leadership abilities to help create traditions and generate school pride.
“He is a positive kid,” said Kendi Quidichey, math teacher at HCCPHS, “and people want to be around him.”
This is the first year for the KENS 5 All-Star Student award. The news station and The UPS Store partnered to recognize exceptional local public-school students from 19 school districts in the San Antonio area.
