March 11, 2021 - Since January, Comal ISD has been working diligently with Comal County and local health partners to secure the COVID-19 vaccine for those teachers and staff who have indicated a desire to be vaccinated.
Vaccination efforts first began with the securing of vaccine for those employees who met the 1A and 1B criteria. By the end of the mid-winter break, all of the individuals who met the 1A/1B criteria and wanted to be vaccinated were able to schedule their dose.
The District has continued to be proactive in obtaining COVID-19 vaccine for its teachers and staff. By Friday afternoon, more than 2,000 teachers and staff will have had the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, which is 100 percent of those who have indicated that they are interested in receiving it.
Comal ISD would like thank Comal County Judge Sherman Krause and Cheryl Fraser, director of the Comal County Department of Public Health, and our health partners for their work in obtaining these vaccine doses for our teachers and staff. The District will continue to work to secure additional doses for any additional employees who may desire to receive the vaccine.
