The Smithson Valley High School varsity football team is stepping up to raise awareness and funds to help find cures for childhood cancers through Touchdowns Against Cancer.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the perfect time to honor Smithson Valley High School students who have raised a total of $100,803 over the last three years for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

This summer 15 Comal ISD students, represented the district at the 2019 Lone Star Leadership Academy camps. These students were chosen for this honor by their teachers based on their leadership skills.

Story by the Herald Zeitung - As Comal Independent School District’s student body continues to swell at unprecedented rates, the district is finding it has a greater need for more bus routes as student ridership reaches new highs, said Jessica Fischer, director of transportation for Comal ISD.

Every student feels excited and a little nervous for the first day of school. Homebound students feel the same way, and that's why the homebound teachers at Comal ISD greet them with a few special surprises to kick off the new year.

A current freshman at Texas A&M University in College Station studying psychology and recent Canyon High School graduate, Tyler Wetzel is honored to have one of his original pieces of music published by the world's largest percussion publishing company.

They make sure drop-off and pick-up traffic runs smoothly; they greet students and staff members daily with a wave and a smile; and they provide additional peace of mind when it comes to safety and security. They are the area law enforcement men and women who partner with and serve the Comal Independent School District.

The safety and security of every student and staff member is always a top priority at Comal ISD, and in order to further strengthen that commitment, the district has added a few initiatives for the new school year.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its 2019 Accountability Ratings today, and the Comal Independent School District earned a grade of “A” with a score of 92 in the state’s A-F accountability system.
