Comal ISD high school campuses hosted final signing days for student athletes with a dozen taking the next step in order to continue to play the sport of their choice at the next level.

Athletes across the district qualified and competed in state competitions this spring from golf and track to powerlifting and tennis. Among those who qualified, three became State Champions, six became silver medalists and one earned a bronze medal.

The Comal Education Foundation's Spring Prize Patrol traveled across the district surprising teachers with grants which will help fund a few of their innovative programs.

It should be called, "the little play that could." The Canyon Lake High School production of "Over the Tavern" created quite a splash this year and broke school records. The ensemble closes out its season on a high note, placing 4th in the state.

During the Third Annual Paradigm Challenge, student teams showed off their ability to research, analyze and design solutions to some of the world's biggest global issues including fire safety, waste reduction and personal health.

For the past decade, middle school librarians in Comal ISD have been creating excitement for books and for reading through the 'Name That Book' Middle School Book Bowl and honoring the life of an avid reader.

Third-grade students from across the district are learning the art of cursive handwriting as part of their curriculum. They put their skills to the test in an Annual Cursive Writing Contest that combines the art of handwriting with their ability to create a descriptive narrative about their community.

Comal ISD art students have opportunities to share their work through various contests including community venues like the New Braunfels Art League.

The Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved a compensation package for all employees that includes a 4 percent pay increase and a $1.16 per hour increase for bus drivers during a special meeting on Tuesday.

Every month, the Comal ISD Board of Trustees recognizes students for outstanding achievements at its monthly meeting, and for April students who qualified for state and national competitions were honored.
