Three Canyon Lake High School students will represent Comal ISD as District 10 officers for SkillsUSA, a national career and technical student organization that helps prepare students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

Comal ISD's career and technical education (CTE) manufacturing program just received a $10,000 donation along with a new community partner. With the opening of its state-of-the-art automotive facility in New Braunfels, technology company Continental showed how serious it is about education with the donation and behind-the-scenes student and staff tours.

Under Title VIII of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Comal Independent School District is eligible for Federal Impact Aid funds as the district enrolls students whose parents are active-duty military or work as civilians employed on Federal property. In order to apply for these funds, it is necessary that to collect this information from parents who may fall into one of these two categories.

Ten Comal ISD athletes have plans for the new year. They will be representing their schools and the district in the 2023 San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, in the Alamodome.

Everyone would like to turn their passion into a career, and students enrolled in Comal ISD's career and technical education programs are finding ways to do just that. Here's a CTE spotlight on the district's fashion design program where students are about to showcase their original designs on a big stage.

Comal ISD is hosting three student flu shot clinics beginning Monday, Oct. 31, and running through Wednesday, Nov. 2, at three locations.

Annually, Comal ISD hosts an awards ceremony called Night of Stars to honor its campus teachers of the year along with academic team awards and a few surprise awards in various categories.

Student performances and student-designed centerpieces were the talk of this year's Night of Stars Banquet which honored teachers and staff. A high school orchestra ensemble and a middle school choir ensemble were showcased along with the work of students in floral design and construction.

Annually, Comal ISD hosts a Dyslexia Awareness Night in October to provide families an opportunity to improve their understanding of dyslexia and related disorders.

Annually, students are nominated to attend the American Legion Texas Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Texas Girls State leadership programs to learn what it takes to run a city, county and state government. This year, 25 students represented Comal ISD in these programs.
