While the Cougars and Rangers continue to play compete in the playoffs, five seniors will have the chance to compete with the best in the San Antonio area in the new year. They were chosen for the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game presented by H-E-B.

The AppleTV documentary, "Boys State," follows Texas high school students as they form alliances, run for office and elect leaders in one week. While virtual, this past summer's session continued the tradition that began 85 years ago, and five Comal ISD students participated.
Many of the vocational classes offered today at high schools are not your typical electives. Comal ISD's Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, like the Business, Marketing and Finance program at Smithson Valley and other high schools, are part of a multi-faceted, modern curriculum that provides students with the technical knowledge and real-world skills they need to get started in a current or emerging profession.
Parents and students at Hoffmann Lane Elementary have always known that their campus was among the best, and now it is official. The kinder-through-fifth-grade campus took the top spot in a ranking of 339 elementary schools in the San Antonio area.
This year, the National College Board Recognition Programs have honored 55 Comal ISD seniors as top academic performers including four National Merit Semifinalists and 15 Commended Scholars.
Johnson Ranch Elementary solved more than 300 math problems and was crowned champion of this year's Pentabowl Math competition.
One Comal ISD high school has earned the College Success Award for the second year in a row. Smithson Valley High School has been recognized for successfully going above and beyond simply graduating students but also helping them enroll in college and succeed once they get there.
It has become a tradition that students, teachers and the community look forward to every year - Veterans Day. Normally, celebrations occur on every Comal ISD campus, and while this year's celebrations were altered a bit, they still brought the community together to remember those who fought for our freedom.
It was National Signing Day for four student-athletes from Canyon High and five student-athletes from Smithson Valley High. With families, teammates and coaches looking on, they took the next step in their athletic careers.
