The excitement of fall was in the air October 9 as Goodwin Frazier Elementary School hosted its annual Heritage Night. The event served as a celebration of New Braunfels’ history, including the smells, sounds and sights of local food, music and dance.

Kirsten Watkins, who teaches AP English and English III at Smithson Valley High School, was recently selected as a University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award winner, based on a nomination written by one of her former students.
As students and parents prepare for back to school, the Comal Independent School District welcomes its first Director of Safety and Security, Joe McKenna, Ph.D. McKenna is leaving his post as the associate director of research and education at Texas State University’s Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) to take on this new role for the district.
